Grading Guide

The grading guide is a document that contains information about each dog registered to race with NOTRA. Included in the grading guide (gg) is the dog's registered name, its "call" name, owner's name and its NOTRA registration number.

The grading guide also includes a score assigned to each dog, its WAVE (weighted average). The WAVE is calculated using the dog's scores from its last three meets. The more recent meets are more heavily considered, thus it is a weighted average, not simply an average.

WAVEs are used by race secretaries to group dogs of similar running ability together in races.

The guide is also used to track how many qualifying meets or "legs" the dog has towards both the JOR (Junior Oval Racer) and SOR (Senior Oval Racer) titles.
